Uber acquires Blacklane Just days after announcing ‘Uber Elite’, a new pre-booked chauffeur drive service, Uber has announced it will be acquiring Blacklane. Blacklane is a high-end chauffeur scheduling app founded in Berlin in 2011. It competes with Wheely and Addison Lee in the UK, operating in 500 cities across 60 countries. Uber says the acquisition will ‘further accelerate’ its chauffeuring ambitions and ‘support Uber’s ambition to deliver best-in-class service to more customers around the world.’
