Hei! I have two separate tickets, ATH-OSL and OSL-TRD, with a connecting time of 1 hour and OSL-TRD being the last flight of the day. Would SAS be able to link them and check my luggage all the way through? Additionally, in case the first flight is delayed, would they accommodate the situation?
Sperate tickets are your risk, but they will be able to check the luggage trough, just go to manual checkin on the first flight. Your travel insurance might cover the delay, if you miss that connection. But they usually have some requirements for how much connection time you need to have
I’ve read most Norwegian travel insurance terms, and in general they only provide cover if you have scheduled 90-120+ minutes before next transport segment. And, most of them er not entirely clear if the limit applies to departure or boarding/check-in. So to be certain of cover you need 2,5h between flights, and you will only be covered if the delay is because of technical and weather related reasons.
SAS has a goodwill policy of rebooking missed connections on seperate tickets for SK and WF flights, as long as they are issued on 117 or 701 documents:
Fantastic piece of information and exactly what I was after - much appreciated. Is there a similar policy for luggage? I’m aware that separate tickets are a risk but sometimes plans change and have to be back at TRD asap hence the separate booking. Luggage is my main concern because if I have to collect at OSL then the connection is almost impossible.
The airline may check your luggage to your final destination. You will be given a boarding pass showing both flights. Your main concern though is whether your flight segments will be considered a 'through ticket' (gjennomgående billett). You don't qualify for the Domestic transfer scheme at OSL with separate tickets, and you will have to collect your luggage and clear customs before checking in for your domestic flight.
