Hi,
As 2016 draws to a close, it would be an understatement to say that the year has been eventful. One highlight was certainly our 70th anniversary that we celebrated with a series of articles in Scandinavian Traveler, a jubilee flight, 70 hours of historical prices and much more.
Last week we posted our 2016 earnings with a profit of SEK 1.4 billion. Together with a new survey showing that 7 of 10 business travelers have more faith in SAS now than last year, it’s time to thank all of you for your support during 2016. We are committed to delivering services on quality and we truly hope that our investments have made your travel and life a lot easier. Below are just a few of the ways we improved our offering during the year.
In total, we launched four new routes between Scandinavia and the US: Boston-Copenhagen, Los Angeles- Stockholm, Miami-Oslo and Miami-Copenhagen. This is really exciting since so many travelers are interested in more flexible direct routes to the US. With a total of 11 US routes, we’re the airline with the absolute best offering from Scandinavia. Not only that, in the summer we finished upgrading our cabins and feedback from the market has been extremely positive. If you haven’t had a chance to experience our new cabins on international flights, do check them out.
During the year, we also expanded our lounges, opened our first SAS City Lounge and several SAS Café Lounges, and enhanced our Fast Track at several airports. And soon you’ll also be able to enjoy our new SAS City Lounge at Stockholm’s Central Station.
In 2017, you’ll also be able to try out the “next generation lounge” at Oslo Airport where we’ll unveil a state-of-the-art technology experience. We can’t wait to welcome you in, so stay tuned. Speaking of new digital solutions, we also started rolling out our new digital platform and during the first months of 2017, all countries will be able to book trips using our new, fast and flexible website. We will also continue enhancing our SAS App – which is rated as the number one app among European airlines – by adding new features to make your life easier.
Next year, SAS EuroBonus will turn 25, another good reason to celebrate. Many of you have been waiting patiently for the new features we’ll be adding to the program. We have to admit that transforming a 25-year-old IT system is taking a bit more time than expected, but we’ll be ready to launch new features gradually in 2017. Among other things, you’ll be able to enjoy many new ways to use your EuroBonus points. Our SAS EuroBonus payment cards (American Express and Master Card ) will continue to offer you the best ways to earn points on your daily spending when you’re not traveling, so do make sure you have at least one of these cards in your wallet.
You may already have experienced some of our new concepts such as SAS Dreams, a new service that offers you tailor-made and unique experiences. If you need a partner to manage your next leadership team event or private celebration, do give the SAS Dreams team a call – I’m sure they’ll surprise you with their creative ideas.
To conclude, my colleagues and I would like to thank you for traveling with us during the year. As one of our loyal travelers, you are extremely valuable to us and we look forward to welcoming you onboard in 2017 as well.
Season’s Greetings and Happy New Year!
Best wishes,
Eivind Roald
