SAS hadde tidligere følgende policy i slike tilfeller:

SAS closes down a destination or schedule changes caused by SAS
If SAS closes down a destination or changes routing of a flight, the member shall be offered to make a new reservation even if the original award includes expired points.
Follow the procedures below:
Step Action
1 Always offer full refund of points. If award includes expired points, offer the member to make a new reservation within 14 days.
Remember to state the last date of reservation for expired points.
2 Make new reservation on SK or partner airline in the same award class of service.
a) If no alternative is available, in due time, in the same award class as originally, book on higher award class.
b) In both cases the meber shall only pay the original award price, i.e. no award change.
c) If any differences in airport taxes, SAS shall pay the different amount.
d) Reservation will appear on discrepancy list and must be deleted.
Billing will be incorrect.

If no award classes are available on SK or partner airline within a reasonable period of time (48 hours) , a revenue ticket in the lowest class/fare may be issued.
SAS must pay for the ticket.
The ticket may not be changed or refunded, i.e. the endorsement field must be updated.
a) No refund of EB points.
b) HIS-line in EBMS must be updated with the following information:
- PNR-number
- Flight / Date / Segment
